Sam Matthijs

From my studio in the Wolkammerij in Hoboken, I design and forge unique furniture, lighting, interior accents, and architectural elements. I combine classic forging techniques with a contemporary, understated visual language. For professionals, I provide clear technical information, predictable lead times, and a hassle-free installation experience. For individuals and chefs, I create durable, unique pieces with character — from chandeliers and table lighting to carbon steel pans that become more beautiful with each use.

My designs originate from the belief that objects are more than just utensils. With fire, hammer, and anvil, I shape steel into a form that invites interaction, reflection, and awareness of the here and now. My work aims not only to attract attention through aesthetics but also to raise awareness of the value of everyday moments. I draw inspiration from being with loved ones, especially during shared cooking and dining moments. These experiences are a source of creativity, from which I continually create new, meaningful objects.
